Sweeten up a salad
It seems I have not had a chef salad in years due to my love of all things sweet. Fruit is the perfect topping to most of my salads. I made this one (patterned after the one at Zupa’s), but I don’t think my kids even gave it a second look. I didn’t even offer them any. More for me I figured. I probably should have considering their reaction would be good blog fodder, but some day’s I’m too tired to offer. So I ate it up. Here are some sweet combinations I enjoy, and sometimes the kids will try them too.
- Strawberries, blueberries, mixed greens, feta cheese, cinnamon coated almonds.
- Cabbage, apples, craisins (sometimes nuts)
- Spinach, red leaf lettuce, craisins, red onion, brown sugar pecans, and mandarin oranges.
All with a sweet poppyseed dressing. My recipes on the side bar will have the dressing recipe. Do you have a favorite combination?
