The Acne Cure

pb070183I know what you’re thinking.  What happened to pasta week?  Well, I tend to get distracted easily, so I actually haven’t made dinner for the last two nights.  Tonight I will however.

I once heard a group of teenagers have rated having good skin as the quality they desire most (even ahead of being thin).  Does your teenager suffer from acne?  Do you?

I only started getting zits after age 21, and it was really annoying.  I tried lots of things, and nothing worked.  I’ve tried pro-activ, accutane, retin-A, antibiotics, and many other concoctions.  The only thing that ever worked for me is the Pill.  While I believe optimal nutrition is the best way to keep your skin clear, for me, I blamed hormones.  I thought I would have to be on the pill the rest of my life, until I found acne.org.  This is going to sound like an infomercial, but I am not affiliated, nor do I get any benefit from recommending you go their website.

BUT IT WORKS!!!  Seriously, it works.  Even ask my sister. She’s a believer too.  The key to their regime is a gentle soap, 2.5 % benzoyl peroxide, and a very gently moisturizer.  The soap and moisturizer I get at the drugstore, the BP I buy through their website, although you don’t have to.  The benzoyl peroxide has been the most important step for me. If I skip this, I will certainly have a breakout. You truly have to follow the regime exactly.  Gently wash never really touching your skin with your fingertips, but smoothing the soap over your skin.  The peroxide lathered on gently and then waiting until it completely air dries.  Then I use Jojoba oil as my moisturizer at night.  Never before reading acne.org would I have put oil on my face, but the drying effects of the peroxide made it necessary for me to try it, and I LOVE IT.  It sounds too simple to work, but it does.  And it starts working from day 1. None of that stupid, “you’ll break out first because its cleaning out all the bad stuff!”  First day improvement for me.

My second advice is clean your phones.  This poor teenage girl I saw at Target had her phone on her shoulder pressed against her cheek, and on ONE side of her face, in the exact shape of her phone was an entire rectangle of acne… only under where her phone was sitting.  WOW!!! Could she not see that her phone was a major cause of her acne. Please, clean your phones.

Any ideas that have worked for you?
