Strength Training made fun
FRIDAY: Exercise and Activity Ideas
When I read Liz Rosenbaums post about her whole family having an exercise party, I was delighted! I love when families exercise together and enjoy each others company!
I’ve had my kids try to copy whatever exercise I’m doing (which is super funny to watch when they are toddlers!). I’ve seen my kids do various strength training routines through soccer and gymnastics. And sometimes they can be WAY stronger and have more endurance than me.
So, what are some good exercises for them to do? We recieved in the mail a small, palm size, deck of exercise cards from Nuru. My kids decided they would blindly choose a card and try the exercise. Here is a very short (because I know you like short) video clip of them “playing their little game”. You need to click over, because I don’t think my video’s feed into a feedburner.
These cards are great for home exercise, taking to the gym, taking on vacation, etc.
I have two more decks to giveaway!!! Leave a comment below through the weekend, and I’ll choose a winner on Monday morning.
Have a great weekend.

I had to laugh! My husband is always spouting out various exercises for my kids to do. Your kids look similar in age/gender to mine so your video was just like watching my own kids.
We would definitely put those cards to good use!

Fun! Sometimes we have impromptu yoga/exercise sessions in the livingroom. The kids get a kick out of mommy trying to do cartwheels inside!

It would be great to have a more organized exercise time at my house. Right now, it consists of my boys running, full speed, all around our kitchen “island” through the living room and into the dining room, usually screaming but always having fun.

FUN! My girls LOVE to exercise with their daddy, and are always upset because I get my workout done before they get up! They would love these cards!

I originally found your blog through Liz, isn’t she great? Those cards sound fun. Our family could use some motivation and tools to be healthier!

Amy – I LOVE that video! So cute of your kids to get into the workout cards! My favorite is when my daughter wants to exercise with me to the tunes of High School Musical!
LOL! P.S. Thanks for the link!

Such a great idea. Any activity to do on Family night is great, as well as something active to do in the basement when it’s cold outside. I would love to win, and even if I don’t I guess it’s possible to make your own.

My girls (5 & 4) think they know everything about exercising but all they do, when they aren’t copying me, is roll on the floor and do a combination of things they have seen us do. It is funny to watch but I think they would love those cards and probably insist on doing them often.

Those are a great idea. My son just got a list of exercises from the Physical Therapist. These cards would make a great add on to those.

So funny! I am just trying to get my kids to exercise. Our basement is a big circle so they do laps in the basment with an in between jump on the mini-trap!!! They try and do sit-ups and push-ups; quite entertaining!

This looks like such a fun idea! We talk about exercising a lot, but other than taking turns on our treadmill they don’t put it into practice enough! This seems like something they would take and go crazy with!
