Cleansing your gut has a huge impact on your skin.
Also taking a “greens” supplement is crucial! Ultimate Living has a great product called Miracle Green.

One more thing. SPF is very very important, especially when using BPO or any acid’s. A light water based moisturize with daily spf will not make you breakout unless there are pore clogging ingredients in it.

For the person talking about blackheads… use Salicylic Acid and a gentle scrub. My fav’s are from Glymed. I would suggest the Serious Action Skin Gel and the Serious Action Skin MAsque (use it as a scrub).

I am actually a Master Esthetician (skin care specialist)… BPO will work great for a while but then your skin will get acquired to it and stop having the same potency. BPO kills bacteria inside the pore by creating oxygen. Bacteria can not live in an oxygen environment. Then next thing to add in would be Salicylic Acid. SA breaks down the top dead layers that are not sluffing off. It also kills bacteria on the surface and sanitizes the skin. If using SA you need to also use a gently (key word is gentle) exfoliator at least 2-3 times a week to help remove those dead layers that SA is breaking up. Also, if you ice your skin at night with an ice cube directly on your skin rotating around in circular motion for 1-3 minutes, it will help reduce inflammation and has been found to make BPO more active. Hope this helps!

Blackheads, too, I hope? I don’t have many red nasty pimples, but I have literally dozens of tiny blackheads on my cheeks. I was literally just about to google for advice on how to deal with this because I want pretty skin.

Does the moisturizer have SPF protection in it for daytime exposure or is that something we really don’t have to worry about? I’ve heard some bad things about SPF causing breakouts.

I completely agree! I have been using a combo of benzoyl peroxide and salicyclic acid for the last several years after reading on a website that when used together one fights the bacteria and one prevents more pimples.

I do not buy my benzoyl peroxide online however. Walmart carries and Equate version of it for about $3.97 per tube. I have also started using PanOXYL body bars (Walgreens, Walmart and CVS all have them–They range from about $6-$9 per bar) only to clean my back, shoulders and back of my arms after soaping up with my regular soap. I scrub those areas with a loofa as well. Since I started this regimen I only have an occasional breakout. I used to always get those pimples that were swollen and red and hurt to the touch both on my back and face…NOT ANYMORE!!! It is also important that I exfoliate my face (when I don’t I start breaking out more).

AMEN Amy!! When I am pregnant my skin is HORRIBLE! I found acne.org during my last pregnancy and it was the ONLY thing that helped me stay clear through my pregnancy. I totally recommend them. I also have to fight the urge to shout “ACNE.ORG” to someone at the store I can see is suffering from it. Totally works!
