That’s the way the cookie crumbles
Fun week, but we have been eating way to many grains and not enough veggies. Next week my goal is 5 vegetable posts in a row! But for today….
A few years ago I bought a package of Girl Scout cookies from a girl going door to door. My kids anxiously awaited to find out what was inside.
“Cookies!” I told them
“Can we make them?” they responded.
“What do you mean, ‘make them’? Someone already made them and put them in this box so we can just eat them without doing any work.” I said, not realizing this was information that was neccesary to teach a child. They were utterly shocked you could buy cookies already made. I thought it was funny we never had before.
Anyhow, today Cereal boy and I experimented with oatmeal cookies a few different ways. Once we replaced the white sugar with Agave nectar, once with honey, and then a third time replacing the butter with canola oil (keeping the honey). They all tasted really similar. But I’ll post the middle recipe here.

I love oatmeal! I swear eating Old Fashioned Oatmeal everyday for breakfast help me lose the first ten pounds of my baby weight! I would eat 1 1/2 servings every morning with a pinch of salt, tons of cinnamon and a cup of skim milk. It was so satisfying and I liked the texture SO much more than quick or instant oats.
Hooray for you! I would love to go to Chicago! They picked you because this is such a great blog!!
Remember to post a TON of pictures.
